UST Main building

ust

The University of Santo Tomas

Considered as the oldest university in Asia, the University of Santo Tomas is a must-see place in Manila. Located at the so-called "university belt", UST continues to attract tourists with its majestic Main Building (photo above) which is even more beautiful at night with the lights on. One would mistaken the Main Building as a structure in Europe but no, it's not. Yet, the building has its own history to tell. The building was a witness to the terror of World War II as it used to be a concentration camp for prisoners of war in the 1940s. The building also boasts of its unique feature -- it is earthquake shock proof, a rarity in most old buildings in Manila. More UST photos to come.
